So I know that board and batten treatments have been all over blog land for awhile now, but sometimes it takes awhile to figure out where and how exactly to do it! The entry wall into my house is very long and it made the front of the house so dark. I did have a big mirror w/ some vinyl applied to it. But after the garage door that comes into the house slammed one too many times, the mirror cracked! After being at a loss for what to do on the wall for a long time , board and batten made the most sense and I love the look of it!
Are you ready to see it?
Here is the before
And after! This is the view as you walk in the front door
After!! I found the black, white, & aqua frames here
A closer view of the left side. The picture w/ the 1 Cor 13:13 verse on it I got from Crafts & Sutch. It is one of my favorite verses :) I printed it out on to an 8x10 black & white photo and Mod Podged onto a canvas.
The right side, also another 8x10 Mod Podged onto Canvas, and the M5 are wooden letters from Michaels that I spray painted w/ aqua . They represent our last initial and the 5 of us! :)
Last is a little frame that my mom picked up for me at the DI. I LOVE the shape and detail of the frame, the color and print..not so much!
Here it is after some white spray paint, distressing and stain on the edges. I cut some scrapbook paper that is probably one of my most fav ever and put it in the frame! Super easy :)
I couldn't be MORE happy w/ how the wall turned out! It turned out EXACTLY how I had it visioned :) Love it when that happens! And love my sweet hubby for putting up the boards, chair rail, the caulking (the most tedious part), and the touch up paint..ugh! I got to do the fun part, hanging up the frames; which I used command strips for all of it except for the big star. Now I'm working on the entry way table and lamp, stay tuned! :)
